About

An open community hub organizing knowledge and resources for scientific user experience (UX).

Our purpose

Better experiences enable better scientific discovery.

This community hub was established based on the professional training and long-term experiences of user experience (UX) professionals in scientific environments.

UX in Science was founded by Drew Paine, PhD to democractize UX knowledge curated for the unique complexities of scientific software ecosystems. The community hub was initially funded by Paine's 2026 Better Scientific Software (BSSw) Fellowship.
